She began to sense that this was the kind of relationship she always sought, but eluded her. She was a lover of an exciting man, an artist, who's work she believed in. She was already seeing herself as a kind of ex-patriot, not smothered by the old belief of being stuck with what american materialistic man was. She saw herself as more of a European soul, more in tune with artists she felt expressed her tragic, romantic, free thinking view of life.
