Photography (typing things out on my blackberry. I'm sending it here so I can copy/paste and print at school)

As new forms of technology develop, the way we look at the world changes with it. For this reason, the fact we have the option to take coloured photographs is a major advantage to the world of art. When working with colour, we add in another element of design that can strengthen a work of art and make it much more effective to illustrate what the photographer wishes to portray. In addition, colour photography can add mood and warmth to a picture that could be cold and boring if it were to be black and white. Bringing colour photography into the world of art only enriches our imagination and opens our mind to portraying new things.

Photographing an image, whether planned or spontaneous requires a photographer to have the intention of permanently capturing a piece of time onto a memory holding medium. For this reason, photographers make pictures. When photographers plan to 'make' a photograph, the scenery, subject, lighting and mood is put into consideration, and everything is carefully positioned and planned in order to create a desired image that will last permanently. If a photograph is made spontaneously, it just so happens that everything is where it should be- and there does not need to be any adjustments made in the creation of the photograph.

Photography, whether intended to be for artistic purposes or not, tell stories of the subject within them. When a photographer makes a photograph, he or she decides to intentionally open themselves up and put their own selves into the image. Instead of actually focusing on subject- a photographer is actually displaying how they think or feel by planning the creation of the image. When a photographer proudly displays an image, whether it is for artistic purposes, or for literally capturing a memory, the photographer openly displays to the world what matters to them the most and how they wish to be remembered.

Processing a photo is a science. Whether it is in a darkroom, where you create negatives, sensitize photographic paper in a room filled with red lights, or, taking the time to properly adjust a digital camera, and develop it through computers- the real importance of photography lies in the photo itself, not how it was developed. The time needed to make a photo with perfect lighting, a perfectly planned subject, setting and inspiration is what really matters to the final printed photograph.

Photography is an art that needs to involve putting yourself into the photo every time it is made. This fact causes photographers to isolate themselves, even for a moment, to concentrate and capture the perfect mood to make the perfect picture. Photography is anti-social because to properly observe the world around you, you must sometimes need to sit back and wait until the perfect moment in time can be preserved and made into a picture.
